If a request has resulted in an Insurer-Led Referral or Quoted response, the broker may be presented with a “Refer to Underwriter” button under the Actions dropdown.
The purpose of this action depends on the original status:
- Insurer-Led Referral - to let the insurer know that the broker wants to follow-up on this response, and would like an Underwriter to review the risk
- Quoted - the broker is aware of other information that they should provide to the insurer that was not directly asked on the product form, and knows that they would need to contact the insurer about this before they can bind the policy.
Clicking on the Refer to Underwriter button opens a pop-up to confirm the action.
Depending on insurer support, this may include a form to allow the broker to enter explanatory text with their request.
On confirming the Referral by clicking on the Confirm button, the data will be sent to the insurer. If their response indicates that the request was successful, the status on Digital Trader for that insurer will be changed to Broker-Led Referral.
While in the Broker-Led Referral status, the broker can use the Check Status action to see if the insurer has completed their review or changed the status of the quote.
Once the Check Status action finds that the quote has been updated, it will update the quote on Digital Trader to match the insurer status, e.g. Quoted or Declined.
